Upper Rogue River Trips - Steelhead, Salmon, & Trout Fishing in Southern Oregon

The Upper Rogue River is one of the most special places I’ve ever had the privilege to guide. Flowing from Crater Lake National Park, the Rogue is renowned for its anadromous steelhead—remarkable fish whose epic migrations make every catch feel truly special. The river’s pristine beauty, solitude, and consistent fishing opportunities provide an unforgettable escape.

Southern Oregon

Seasonal Offerings
• Summer Steelhead & Trout:

Late September–December
• Winter Steelhead: February–April
• Salmon Fly Hatch Season: May 22–June 8

We also offer year-round trout trips along stretches of the Rogue where the calm waters and dynamic currents deliver an exceptional fly fishing experience. Group sizes are kept small (1-2 anglers) to ensure personalized instruction and quality fishing throughout the day.

Rates

Full-Day (7-8 hours): $650

Half-Day (4 hours): $400

Alaska

Season: June–September
Target Species: Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Sockeye & Silver Salmon
Trip Length: Half-Day (4-5 hours) or Full-Day (8 hours)
Group Size: Up to 4 anglers

Fishing Methods:
• Sockeye Salmon: The boat is used for transport, with all fishing done while wading from shore.
• Trout Fishing: Primarily conducted from the boat, with opportunities to bank fish in certain areas. For serious trout anglers, smaller groups of 2 are recommended to maximize opportunities, reduce tangles, and avoid taking turns.

Full-Day (7-8 hours)

$350 per person (3-seat minimum)
$1,000 for 2 anglers
$1,200 for 3 anglers

Half-Day (4 hours)

$225 per person (3-seat minimum)
$600 for 2 anglers
$750 for 3 anglers

If you are looking for a fun day on the water, look no further! I booked Lucas for a day on the upper Kenai. Our group had a mix of beginner and avid fly fishermen. Lucas was able to accommodate all skill levels. He was patient with teaching the beginners, and also was able to put the expert fly caster in the group on some more challenging water. It ended up being the best dry fly fishing I have experienced in 12 years fishing the Kenai. The boat was roomy and comfortable. I will be booking again in the future.

We had a great experience fishing on Kenai River with Lucas. First off, we found out on Wednesday night that our Thursday open ocean fishing trip, with a different charter, was canceled due to weather. We were connected to Lucas who worked with us to get us out fishing the next day. Fishing with Lucas was great. We had 4 of us in our group, novice fly fishermen, and he did a great job of coordinating and instructing our fishing and putting us on fish. Additionally, Lucas was very attentive and made a lot of effort to help my nephew catch an additional fish at the end of the trip to balance out the numbers between him and my son. Highlights on the day were my son catching a Dolly over 24 inches and my brother landing an 8 lb sockeye, both on the fly rod. I highly recommend a trip with Lucas.

I met Luke many years ago through a chance encounter on the Upper Kenai River while I was sockeye fishing for the first time. Even though I wasn’t then his client, Luke set my fly rod up and instructed me on how to catch sockeye. I soon limited out! I was amazed at his patience as well as his willingness to help me. For years since, I have had the great privilege to share the adrenaline and excitement of slamming reds and landing large rainbow trout on the Kenai with Luke as my guide.
